Karl T. Harford

Good Samaritan Endowed Scholarship Fund

The Karl T. Harford Good Samaritan Endowed Scholarship Fund was created in 2004 by Karl’s parents, Tom and Livia Harford, to honor Karl and recognize students who demonstrate similar characteristics. Karl was a student at Ball State University, and his life ended violently when he provided a ride home for three strangers. Recipients must be pursuing a degree in or related to business at Ball State University, demonstrate academic promise, and have completed their sophomore year of college. Preference is given to students who demonstrate “Good Samaritan Acts” or random acts of kindness. Preference is also given to students who demonstrate financial need. Karl's scholarship fund has now awarded over $263,000 in scholarships to 50 business majors through the years.
